The Head Speed Elite is the second-lightest racquet in the new Speed series and offers forgiveness for a player with a more moderate swing speed. Also features new Head technologies such as d3o and DuPont Teflon grommets in a player-oriented package. A 100 square inch head, slightly wider 22mm beam, and 11.1 oz. strung weight add up to lighter, more maneuverable option to the Speed Pro and Speed MP for intermediate level players. A more open 16x19 string pattern makes the Speed Elite more spin friendly for topspin players.

Head introduces d3o technology in the Head Speed MP, and is a "smart" material in that it behaves differently under varying dynamic loading or impact. Integrated in the frame lay-up and positioned in the shaft area (where the racquet flexes the most), d3o seeks to help players maximize performance on all shots. High speed impacts lock d3o together within nanoseconds at the molecular level, stiffening the frame to provide maximum power. Conversely, on slower speed impacts, the d3o molecules absorb the impact providing softer touch for better feel.

The Speed Pro also uses a DuPont Teflon grommet system that reduces friction. Less friction means maintaining more of the strings energy, and a resulting slight increase in power.
